Obviously, computers need to communicate with each other in order to establish a local network and share files. This can be done with a network cable, I have a direct connection between two computers. But it is even more interesting to connect all computers via router, now installed in all homes and offices. When connected through a router, you can pre-set up a local network, not just between two computers. All computers can be connected to a local network and even mobile devices connected to a router
For example, stationary computers can be connected to a router via a network cable, and laptops - via a Wi-Fi network. This is how it works best for you, and how you do it. It does not matter if the computer is connected to the router via Wi-Fi or cable. And it doesn't matter if you have any operating system installed, but I will show you Windows 7 as an example.
And set up and display a router on which my laptop is connected to Wi-Fi and a PC. Both run on Windows 7. We now set up a local area network between these two computers. And, let's open shared access to folders and files. What is the local area network between computers? Usually for file sharing. This can often be done on the network to avoid going to the flash drive if you want to transfer some files from one computer to another. Well, you can play games on the network.

The computers you want to remember must be connected to the same router or directly to the cable. Also, all the actions I show in this section must be performed on both computers.
An important point! If you want to configure the network to which some third-party devices (such as your neighbor) is connected via a Wi-Fi router, you can access the folders on your computer after setting up. Set up public access. Install the best to protect your network. If you still want to connect third-party devices to your router but want to set up a home network, you can create a "guest network" for guests, as we did on the Ziksel router.
One more point. If you are setting up a network when you connect computers directly without a router, you also need to set up IP addresses that do not change in the local network connection features. If you are connected via router, then you do not need to do anything else, just follow the instructions.
1 First of all, we need to make sure that all the computers are working in one team. This should be checked on all computers connected to the local network.
We do this: Press the keyboard shortcut Win + R, and specify the command in the window that appears sysdm.cpl ... Push OK.

2 The second step is to change the sharing settings. We perform these settings in the same way on all computers on the network. I'll show you what to do now.
Right-click on the Internet Connection icon in the popup bar and open Network & Sharing Center ... Select in the new window Change Advanced Sharing Options.
There will be two profiles. Home or work, and general. We will change what is written Current profile ... You can make these settings for both profiles.

As I wrote above, you have access to previously shared folders. However, you may need to open a shared access to another folder, which is available, for example, in the local drive D. This can be done without any problems. After opening shared access to the folder, all computers from the local network can view, modify, and add new files to this folder. (However, it depends on the permissions we allow).
For example, I want to share my Photos folder. To do this, right-click on it and select Properties ... Go to the Access tab, and click the Advanced Customization button ... We'll check next to the item Share this folder, and click the Permissions button.
In the window that opens after you click the button, we must set permissions to this folder. So that networks can only see files and then just mark the opposite of reading. Well, full access to the folder, the ability to convert files, set all three check boxes.
Everything is done in a confusing way until you understand it ... These settings have been made easier and more understandable. But, everything works.
